The New Regency/Paramount coproduction is set to start production July, sources say. Black Swan director, Darren Aronofskyâ™s will retell the story of Noahâ™s Ark in an edgy way in Noah. Christian Bale, The Dark Knight Rises actor was Aronfskyâ™s first choice for the role, however due to Baleâ™s crazy schedule, which included filming for Lawless and Knight Of Cups kept Bale from accepting the role.
However after much thought, Aronofsky decided Crowe was a great fit for the iconic biblical role. Teaming up with Crowe are many well-known names such as Arnon Milchanâ™s New Regancy which made L.A. Confidential and Gladiator as well as John Logan who rewrote Aronofskyâ™s and Ari Handelâ™s Noah script.
During the development of Noah, Aronofsky said,
âœSince I was a kid, I have been moved and inspired by the story of Noah and his familyâ™s journey. The imaginations of countless generations have sparked to this epic story of faith. Itâ™s my hope that I can present a window into Noahâ™s passion and perseverance for the silver screen.â
Noah will now join the list of films based on the bible such as Steven Spielburgâ™s Mosses. Plus, the film will fit perfectly into Paramountâ™s purpose to make films with a global human appeal.
