IF the thought of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes together still gives you chills, better reach for the bucket.
This time it's Cruise and Beyonce doing a remake of musical A Star is Born with director Clint Eastwood.
Deadline report that Cruise is in talks to play an alcoholic rocker who takes an up-and-coming singer under his wing and shows her the way to stardom - and love.
Russell Crowe, Christian Bale, Hugh Jackman and Leonardo DiCaprio had all been linked to the part but now Cruise is the actor studios want drooling over a much younger star.
Kris Kristofferson memorably played the bitter rock star opposite Barbra Streisand in 1976 version of the story, so it will be interesting to see what unique qualities Cruise brings to a washed up has-been (can you be bitter and grin at the same time?).
The only way the film could work is if Cruise resurrected his sleazy producer from Tropic Thunder. That's the kind of guy you could imagine working in the music business.
