Ah, yes. So much synergy happens during SXSW. If you've been on the Austin festival circuit in the last six months or so, you may have noticed Christian Bale at Austin City Limits, where he played bongos with Fleet Foxes, or Ryan Gosling and Rooney Mara at Fun Fun Fun Fest, which led to a Tumblr devoted specifically to Ryan Gosling at Fun Fun Fun Fest.
They were all being trailed by renowned Texas-bred auteur Terrence Malick (Badlands, The Thin Red Line), who's been filming scenes for his upcoming movie, Lawless, a tale of "obsession and betrayal" set against the backdrop of the Austin music scene. Or festival scene. Not sure yet.
Over the weekend, Malick was filming at the Fader Fort, a sentence I never thought I'd write, and apparently Dallas' Alan Palomo, aka Neon Indian, is now part of the film, and was shooting scenes with Girl With the Dragon Tattoo star Rooney Mara, who was also seen at Fun Fun Fun Fest with Ryan Gosling. Love triangle alert!
