Since word hit in which Stephen King's 'The Dark Tower' was being adapted, everyone has been wondering who will perform Roland Deschain. Though the likes of Viggo Mortensen and Christian Bale have entered and left the mix, one actor's brand has remained throughout — Javier Bardem. With Mortensen out there (and presumably occupied together with 'Snow White and the Huntsman') and Bale busy with 'The 13 Women involving Nanjing' and the next Batman, there's one gruff-and-tough man left.
Though whittling on the rumored choices doesn't exactly lend clarity to the possibility of his / her casting, this does: Producer Brian Grazer confirms that they want Bardem for your role and are currently doing what they can to make that happen.
When pressed by Reality tv, Grazer said, We're in the process of trying to put that together … He has locked in psychologically. He would like to do it, so we're completely rooting for him to do it. The truth is, when it comes to casting the task overall, Grazer said that they're actually just focused on Roland. (Which could speak to their desire to have Bardem, or an fascination with letting only one confirmed gossip loose at a time.)
What might stand in his way? Nicely, these days Bardem's name is all within the place, as he's rumored to get gigs in everything from another James Bond flick to 'Potsdamer Platz.Ha And signing on the dotted line for this project means committing to a really long process that includes a group of films and television installments. May the three-time Oscar nominee and one-time winner wish to commit to such an epic task?
That big question nevertheless remains.
