Lauded British radio host and Hip-Hop DJ ,Tim Westwood, has been fired from his afternoon post at BBC Radio. Westwood's show has become a go-to location for the likes of Nicki Minaj, A$AP Rocky, Wale, Big Sean, and more so it's confusing why he would be let go from the gig. The 54-year-old broke the news to his more than 200,000 followers on Twitter yesterday without giving much insight into why he was booted. "I've been sacked from 1Xtra Mon-Fri 4-7pm from sept #Westwoodyourfired," he wrote.
After hearing the news, Minaj was downright shocked and used her Twitter page to blast the decision to give Westwood the pink slip. "Noooooooooooooo Tim Westwood is such a big part of my UK experience!!!!!" she wrote. "He's a f**king superstar!!!! Best interviews hands down!!!! Wtf?!?!" Minaj also asked Westwood to contact her, and begged him to move to the states.
Even though his "drivetime" slot is no more, Westwood will remain under the employ of the BBC hosting a Sunday night program, alongside his Saturday night time slot.
