The flowers of war
I went to see a film called 'The Flowers of War.' The film was something different than what I was expecting to see, when I heard the name of the movie 'Red Light Revolution.' I thought some thing else. The film centers on a Westerner who takes refuge in a church with a group of Chinese Kids a group of prostitutes and posing as a priest, attempts to lead them to safety during Japan's take-over of Nanking. At first I wasn't completely sure i was going to like the film, however i found the more i watched, the more i enjoyed it.
'The Flower of War' is a good film in my point of view, It was about the war in Nanking, which i Think no one knows about it in all ages. I didn't know about it However the film gave a good insight into what was going on, showing quips of hum our from Christian Bale.
THE FLOWERS OF WAR is a big movie in every sense of the word, from its kinetic battle scenes to the beautiful shots and great performances from a young inexperienced cast. He is China's most internationally-renowned filmmaker, praised for both for his bold visual style in films such as HERO and CURSE OF THE GOLDEN FLOWER, but also for his earlier, more character-driven films, like JU DOU and RAISE THE RED LANTERN, which detail the plights of young women in oppressive, male-centric societies. according to James Marsh.
athe ennd I am conflicted by THE FLOWERS OF WAR. On the first side it is an outstanding staged war drama and a frequently exhilarating experience, from which I honestly feel many viewers can get quite a lot. On the other side, it is a unbalanced, inflexible and frustrating portrayal of the Japanese that makes no aim to explain, question or even understand their behavior. to win the Chinese Film Industry many more supporters in the long run.
Overall i found the film supremely touching also i felt it was sensitive to the audience watching it. I might would exhaustively recommend this film but I would not watch it again.
