Exploding In Sound (delivering good rock music since 2008): Quick ...

*Little Black Cloud Records have posted the following update about Stephen Brodsky's upcoming new EP Hit Or Mystery...

"Stephen Brodsky's EP is being mastered ...again - I know, right? The line of songs has changed one more time but it looks like we have it finalized now and if all goes well we should have it out by March. I PROMISE THIS EP IS WORTH THE WAIT. The music is beyond beautiful and the art / vinyl will be sure to please too.

I have been friends with Stephen for a very long time and this new material is my favorite by him. Ever."

*[consequenceofsound.net] The Black Lips better get their SAG cards soon, because it looks like they’re going to get quite a bit of screen time in Terrence Malick’s next film. Last month, the cameras were rolling as the band appeared alongside Ryan Gosling and Rooney Mara during their set at Austin City Limits. And last night during their appearance at Austin’s Fun Fun Fun Fest, they got to serve as the backing band to a particularly riled Val Kilmer.

According to our own Jeremy D. Larson and RollingStone.com, Kilmer appeared on stage with the Lips for over 30 minutes as he smashed a guitar, destroyed an amp with a prop chainsaw, and even cut off his own hair with a large knife. He also shouted out phrases like “Autograph the epitaph!” and “Rock and roll is dead!” while the Lips blazed through their own songs. Check out a two-minute clip of the action below.

Footage from last night will presumably appear in Malick’s film, which is reported to center around a love triangle within Austin’s music scene. Malick previously filmed Gosling at last year’s Fun Fun Fun Fest. Other actors attached to the film include Christian Bale, Michael Fassbender, and Natalie Portman.

*[brooklynvegan.com] Brooklyn's Shellshag just got home from a US tour this week, and though Hurricane Sandy hasn't made NYC the easiest place to return home to, hopefully everything is okay for them. We'd like to assume so because Shellshag are treating Brooklyn to two hometown shows, including one this weekend. First, they'll play XPO 929 on Saturday (11/3) with Moisture and N/A and then later this month they'll play Death by Audio on November 11 with The Max Levine Ensemble, Marvin Berry & the New Sound, and Trepanning. Both shows appear to be happening as scheduled. Tickets for the XPO 929 show are on sale now. No advance tickets for the Death by Audio show.

Shellshag's most recent release is the "Stars n Bars" 7" that came out over the summer. You can stream the title track off that 7" below.

*[press release] Last Saturday the Good to Die Productions crew (the folks responsible for the Deadkill - "Oh God Help You" video) assembled in West Seattle and whipped together a little Halloween treat in the form of a 4 minute short film to get in the spirit of the season. The idea for "Best Saturday Ever" was conceived by Good to Die Productions mainman Jerry Howard, and was shot and edited by the very talented Wes Johnson. Though not an official music video, "Best Saturday Ever" also features "It's Bad" by Good to Die Records band Absolute Monarchs. Debut album "1" is available now on LP/CD/Digital.

*[press release] The idea of love at first sight has been around for centuries, and eclectic Nashvillian "folk 'n' roller" Majestico is one of the few who understands the phenomenon firsthand. It's the inspiration for his new single "Bright White Lady," the latest off his EP Love Is God, which was recently released via Jeffery Drag Records. And now, Majestico unveils his song with the help of The Audio Perv, which premiered "Bright White Lady" today.

With lyrics like "I'm a mausoleum for your pixie dust," Majestico's euphoric, guitar-heavy single "Bright White Lady" takes you into the singular moment he witnessed an angelic girl walking into his life. "I had just gotten off stage and a 'lady' approached me and took my hand," says Majestico. "I looked into her eyes, and time slowed and softness formed around. The sounds we made were as if we were under water. Our real communication was telepathic, and was about love. She was the most beautiful creature I have ever seen. She hasn't come back yet, but I'll keep waiting."
