With highlights including Jessica Chastain fronted frightener Mama, the Wachowski Brother’s return to the big time with philosophical, star-studded sci-fi Cloud Atlas and Denzel Washington’s last ditch Oscar push with Flight, February at the box office is looking good.
Bullet to the head (15) – February 1st
If like me you need another garden variety testosterone-fueled brain melter like, well, a bullet to the head, then I’d steer clear of this one. A cop and a hitman get together to bring down their common foe after watching their respective partners die… yada, yada, yada. Try getting through the trailer without sniggering derisively. It can’t be done.
Beautiful Creatures (TBC) - February 13th
At first glance Beautiful Creatures looks like a nauseating jaunt, caught halfway between Twilight and The Craft. But it seems to convey the difficult choices, good or bad, faced by youngsters in a way that's accessible to Twi-hards.
