Dejan Lovren: The Croatian has decided to go to Southampton, and obviously believes in the vision that the board and Mauricio Pochettino have for the club. Lovren will be one of the most essential components if Southampton are to push up the Premier League table. He attracted interest from many other clubs, mainly because of his great reading of the game and his strength in the tackle. At the age of 24 he still has plenty of time to improve and has a lot of great experience in the Champions League. If he plays to his best then he could take Southampton to the next level, and maybe allow them to challenge consistently for a spot in the top ten.
Maarten Stekelenburg: The Dutch keeper has signed for Fulham after two seasons in the Italian Serie A, playing for Roma. He had been the Dutch international team’s goalkeeper for a long time, even playing for them in the World Cup final in 2010. He also has plenty of experience at the top level, from his Champions League campaigns with Ajax. He is usually quite a consistent keeper, but he does make the odd mistake which can cost his side. But for the most part, his shot stopping is without question. He is a good replacement for their outgoing Australian keeper.
Iago Aspas: The little Spaniard has got off to a decent start in his Premier League career. He hasn’t scored in any of his first three games for Liverpool, but his talent shines through. He is a creative player, but his best attribute is his work-ethic. He reminds me a lot of Dirk Kuyt in that he never gives the opponent’s defenders a moments rest, always closing them down. Clearly he does need to add goals and a killer instinct to his play, but Liverpool fans should be encouraged by what they have seen so far.
Steven Caulker: Cardiff had one of the strongest defences in the Championship last season, keeping 18 clean sheets. And Malky Mackay wants this strong defence to continue to keep clean sheets in the Premier League. Steven Caulker is tall and strong, and from his time at Swansea, we could see that he is good at reading the game. These traits will be vital for Cardiff if they are to avoid a long relegation battle this year. He could be one of the best signings of the summer, not just one of the best signings under £10 million...
Nathan Redmond: The young winger has finally made his move to a Premier League club, a year after he was at the peak of his reputation. Towards the end of 2011/12 he was considered as one of England’s top young talents, with dribbling, pace, power and an eye for goal. He has already started off well, scoring a goal against Southampton after a great run. If he can carry on like this he could fulfill all the promise that he was said to possess. At only £2.4 million he could be the bargain of the season.
