Star Trek's Zoë Saldana is in early talks for a role on Scott Cooper's Out of the Furnace.

Out of the Furnace is the story of an ex-con who "must choose between his newfound freedom and avenging the death of his younger brother." Christian Bale (The Dark Knight) has already signed up for the project.

If Saldana signs for Out of the Furnace, she would take on the role of Bale's ex-wife, who is a waitress now married to the town sheriff.

Others who may possibly be in the film include Robert Duvall, who would play Bale's uncle, and Casey Affleck, who is one of the actors in contention for the role of Bale's brother.
