Tom Cruise

Later this year we'll see Tom Cruise rocking hard in his first musical as Stacee Jaxx in Rock of Ages, but it sounds like the superstar now has the singing bug. Deadline has word that Warner Bros. is courting Cruise to take the lead role in the remake of A Star is Born from director Clint Eastwood. While the film was looking to start production last month, in August of last year, we learned that Beyoncé Knowles, who has already been cast in the film, had caused a delay due to her pregnancy. Now that the singer turned actress and her husband Jay-Z have had their child, Warner Bros. is anxious to get the project back on track.

Names like Leonardo DiCaprio, Will Smith, Russell Crowe and even Christian Bale have been a point of focus for the lead role of an over-the-hill musician who helps launch the career of a young promising talent with whom he falls in love. As of now, Cruise's involvement is not official as a deal has not been made and it's not clear if the actor's schedule, which still has Oblivion from Joseph Kosinski slotted, will allow hi to take the role; not to mention We Mortals Are, the adaptation of All You Need is Kill from Doug Liman. Knowing that Cruise really sings like a champ in Rock of Ages, I have to say that this sounds like a match.
