Christian Bale just recently came back to Out of the Furnace, the project formerly known as The Low Dweller with Crazy Heart helmer Scott Cooper behind the camera this time, and now another great talent is joining the mix as Variety has word that Zoe Saldana is in talks to join the film. Written by Brad Ingelsby, the story follows a man named Slim (Bale) who, upon release from years in prison for murder, just wants to keep his promise to marry his girlfriend, the role meant for Saldana. However, his path changes when he seeks revenge once he learns his brother was murdered after being involved in a gambling racket. Read on!
Saldana's character is a waitress now married to the town sheriff and Robert Duvall has already been said to be circling the role of Bale's uncle. Meanwhile, apparently Viggo Mortensen is circling the role of the villain and another big name will likely take the role of Bale's brother. Just the cast is reason enough to get excited, but with Cooper behind the camera, this is going to be a film to keep an eye on down the road. It's interesting to note that Bale and Saldana have been part of box office history with The Dark Knight and Avatar in their past, but Out of the Furnace probably doesn't have the legs to reach those numbers.
