REAL WANTED TORRES
Real Madrid considered buying Fernando Torres before he joined Liverpool from Atletico Madrid, according the club's ex-director of football, Predrag Mijatovic.
"We considered signing him during my time at the club," Mijatovic, who worked at the Santiago Bernabeu from 2006-09, told Radio Marca.
"You have to look at your options when you're the director of football and Torres was always on our list. We talked about signing him but it was always going to be a tough deal to make. It wasn't a question of money, rather the team he was playing at."
With the striker back at Atletico on loan from AC Milan, Real may be breathing a quiet sigh of relief.
